HAPPY NATIONAL DOG DAY!! As a dog mom, I know how tricky it can be to find spots that make your pup feel safe and welcome...especially if your dog is a little reactive or nervous in new environments like my sweet boy, Perry. Over the past year, we have explored the city together and found a handful of gems that Perry loves and I trust! So here are just a few!
1701 S Shepherd Dr, Houston, TX 77019
Barnabyās CafĆ© is a classic Houston favorite, and for dog parents, itās basically a must. Their patios are pup-friendly, with plenty of space for your four-legged friend to relax while you enjoy a meal. Perry loves the fresh air and people-watching, and I love their massive salads (Any one of them is a winner but my fav is the Cobb Salad)

2929 Weslayan St #103, Houston, TX 77027
If Perry could pick a favorite store, this would be one of them. Rocky & Maggieās is a pet boutique filled with everything from fun toys and cute accessories to delicious treats. Perry loves to sniff through the aisles like heās on his own shopping spree. Itās a great spot to spoil your pup (and honestly, itās hard to leave without grabbing something special)!
1029 W 26th St, Houston, TX 77008
Training has been a huge confidence booster for Perry. At Believe in Dog Training, he not only picked up important skills, but also learned to feel more comfortable around big dogs. Before, he was timid and reactive in new situations. Now, he handles busy patios and dog-friendly spots with so much more ease (we are like 70% there LOL). However, watching him grow braver here was one of the best decisions Iāve made as a pet parent. They work with you and your fur baby to make sure you BOTH have the confidence to step out into the real world.
3030 Chimney Rock Rd suite 200, Houston, TX 77056
Nutrition is just as important for our fur babies as it is for us, and Houston Raw Pet Food is where I go for Perryās healthy bones and treats. Their selection is high quality and keeps him happy and energized. I love knowing Iām giving him the good stuff...and he loves that he gets rewarded with delicious snacks.
āGiant Leap Coffee (Uptown Park)
1135 Uptown Park Blvd, Houston, TX 77056
For weekends when I want coffee and Perry needs a patio hangout, we head to Giant Leap Coffee in Uptown Park. Their outdoor seating is pup-friendly, and the staff even has little treats for the dogs. Itās the best way to enjoy the weather: me with a latte, Perry with a snack, both of us soaking up the scene (If the Houston weather doesn't make us regret stepping outside)
.....
Finding dog-friendly spots in Houston has made such a difference for me and Perry. With his anxiety, Iām picky about where we go, but these places are safe, fun, and enjoyable for both of us.
